Plein Aire Painting at GSP
As a 2019 recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission’s Arts in Parks grant, the Auburn Arts Commission is pleased to provide another FREE program to citizens of DeKalb County and beyond by partnering with the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site for a plein aire paint out this fall! This goal of this grant is to connect Hoosiers in rural/underserved areas with the arts by hosting creative programming at a state designated historic sites or state parks. The AAC is happy to provide events in both Noble and DeKalb counties as part of this project!
Artists’ applications are welcome from experienced painters residing in Indiana. DEKALB, NOBLE, LAGRANGE and STEUBEN artists are ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.
- Juror’s talk prior to the day of the paint out
- Plein Aire paint out event Saturday, September 14th, 2019 with stations for guests to try their hand at the artform and a short lunchtime presentation by juror Jennifer Emswiler and site manager Tiffany Parker discussing the significance of plein aire in art history, to the Hoosier state, and Gene herself. A special plein aire painting by Gene Stratton-Porter will also be on loan and at the site for public view during this event!
- Display of works created during this event will be held at the Noble County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau
- Closing reception on Thursday October 3rd, 2019 at the historic Waterloo Train Depot where artists will be on-hand for an awards presentation as well as juror and the site property manager.
